Use of Theros® FMS Dilators for Prostate Massage

First of all: Theros® FMS dilators are highly versatile and can also be used for prostate massage, which we discuss below. So if you would like to combine several applications, FMS dilators are the right choice.
With Theros® ProstaSphere, however, we also offer a dedicated tool specifically designed for prostate massage.

FMS dilators for prostate massage offer the following advantages compared with products made from silicone or plastic:

  • The unmatched smooth surface of borosilicate glass allows even prolonged applications without irritating the mucous membranes.
  • No pores, making them exceptionally hygienic and easy to clean.
  • Completely inert (non-reactive inside the body), resistant to odours and discolouration.
  • Extremely sustainable because they remain hygienic permanently.
  • Suitable for many other applications, such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures, vaginal problems and much more.

A Single Dilator or a Dilator Set?

There is no universally correct size for a single dilator used in prostate massage. Very small dilators, however, often provide insufficient or even uncomfortable stimulation because their heads are too small and the contact area is limited. Our dilator sizes from 14 mm upwards were not designed for prostate massage, but for other therapeutic applications.

For prostate massage, experience shows that a size of at least 24 mm should be used.

A dilator larger than 24 mm provides more intense stimulation, but also places greater demands on the anal sphincter. Therefore, determine in advance which size you can comfortably accommodate to avoid pain during insertion or throughout the massage. We provide tips on finding the right size for you.

With a dilator set, you can adapt the size to your capacity and increase it when you feel ready. A set containing 24, 28, 32 and 36 mm sizes is an excellent choice. Please note our quantity discounts when purchasing.

Preparation

In general, you should take your time and be relaxed. Erotic stimulation can also be very helpful. Warmth relaxes the sphincter muscle and is psychologically beneficial as well. To enhance the effect, you may prepare a container of hot water in which you can repeatedly warm the dilators. A baby bottle warmer is ideal because it maintains a constant temperature. The correct temperature can be checked by briefly holding the dilator against the inside of your thigh. FMS dilators from approximately 30 mm onwards can also be sustainably temperature-controlled using a filling; further details can be found in the instructions for use. The following items are essential in any case:

  • Despite the unmatched glide of FMS dilators, you absolutely need a high-quality medical lubricant such as Vemal Bio Lubricant.
  • A towel for drying the dilators after the water bath and/or cleaning your fingers after applying lubricant.
  • A surface on which to place used dilators when working with a set and increasing sizes.

Application

The Correct Position

You can perform prostate massage while lying on your side, drawing up the upper leg (recovery position) and inserting the dilator from behind. However, freedom of movement is somewhat restricted in this position. It is therefore advisable to prepare any equipment you may need beforehand and place it within easy reach.

Insertion

Before starting, apply a small amount of lubricant around the anus and massage the anal sphincter gently with your fingertips to help it relax. Then apply a little lubricant to the dilator (after drying it following the water bath) and dry your hands afterwards.

Now gently insert only the head of the (warmed) dilator – deeper insertion is not necessary at first – and relax for a while.

Types of Massage

Then slowly insert the dilator further – not straight ahead, but slightly angled towards the abdomen, in the direction of the prostate – until you make contact with it. You will notice this clearly: if you are not accustomed to it, touching the prostate initially creates an unusual sensation.

By moving the dilator two to three centimetres backwards and forwards, a kind of tapping or point massage of the prostate is created, primarily affecting the rear area facing the rectum. Begin very gently so that you can gradually become accustomed to the sensation. Even this light massage noticeably stimulates prostate function.

As you gain experience, you can progress to massaging the outer areas of the prostate, effectively stimulating it all around. This requires a rocking movement with the dilator: insert it slightly deeper so that the head lies beside or just behind the prostate rather than directly in front of it. Then make circular movements with the outer end of the dilator. This causes the head of the dilator to move around the prostate and intensively massage its lateral areas. It takes some practice to perform this movement at the correct depth, with the appropriate pressure and radius.

Increase the Size?

If you feel that you can or would like to use a larger dilator, you can increase the size – entirely according to your preference. A 36 mm dilator produces a stronger effect than a 24 mm model. However, the size should generally not exceed approximately 44 mm, because an excessively large dilator can no longer be guided optimally due to the increased mass of the surrounding tissue. Stretching plays no role in prostate massage.

Frequency and Duration of Use

Here, too, there is no single recommendation that applies to everyone – people differ, as do their available time, individual needs and the severity of their prostate-related symptoms.

As a general rule:

  • Even the shortest stimulation of prostate function is better than none.
  • Frequent short prostate massages are more beneficial than infrequent long sessions.

You should therefore perform the application as regularly as possible. The principle is simple: more achieves more. Establish fixed routines instead of leaving it to chance. If possible, perform the massage briefly in the morning and evening; otherwise, once a day for a slightly longer period.

Release of Prostatic Fluid

During a prostate massage, the release of prostatic fluid may occur – usually without orgasm, sometimes with orgasm, and with varying levels of sexual arousal. This is a normal phenomenon and depends not only on the intensity of the massage, but also on imagination, psychological factors and whether the massage is performed by another person.

Prostate Massage as a Sexual Practice

Prostate massage can also be performed by a partner as a special form of penetration and therefore represents a unique expression of intimacy and attention. This sexual practice – the penetration of a man by a woman (also known as pegging) – can sometimes help resolve potency problems and erectile dysfunction because the experience reactivates the feminine aspect (anima) within the man. For a healthy flow of energy – a fundamental prerequisite for healthy potency – both poles (feminine and masculine) are required. This natural principle is symbolised by the Yin-Yang symbol.

This applies to all people, regardless of the gender with which they primarily identify. The activation of both poles can significantly enrich both your relationship and your personal experience of sexuality.
