About Us - The Philosophy of Theros

Theros® brings together two essential aspects of life: therapy and eros. Our products unite these two dimensions because they address some of the most fundamental needs for physical and emotional wellbeing. In our philosophy of life, body and mind are inseparable – just as therapy and eros are inseparable. When developing our products, we accept no compromises: functionality, materials and safety must meet the highest standards. This is what makes them unique.

Handcraftsmanship plays a central role in all our products. Only through handcrafting can human energy, care and attention become part of the product and later be passed on to the person using it. This is what makes handmade products so fascinating – and what no mass-produced item can ever achieve.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the many experts who support us with medical and scientific questions and who share and support the vision behind Theros.

My many years of work as a midwife – particularly in home birth care – have enabled me to support women and couples through all the challenges associated with pregnancy, childbirth and becoming parents. As a therapist, I continue to support them during later stages of life, for example through relationship difficulties or challenges during menopause. These different perspectives have helped me understand the complex connections between physical and psychological issues relating to health, relationships, sexuality and the search for meaning.

I have also been shaped by my own life experience as a single mother of twins, as a life partner and grandmother, including within a blended family.

The realisation that all these areas – and ultimately EVERYTHING – are interconnected was a decisive factor in the creation of Theros. Truly effective therapeutic aids should reflect this holistic approach. That is why we develop products of uncompromising quality that benefit people as a whole: physically and emotionally, for therapy and eros, for women, men, trans people and couples.

Personal Development and Spiritual Background

For more than 30 years, I have been deeply engaged in self-awareness, self-exploration and personal growth, as well as sexual equality, Tantra, breathwork and many other disciplines. Important milestones included the Quadrinity Process and a four-week stay at the Dahlke Healing Centre, where I explored archetypes and behavioural patterns in depth.

I have practised yoga and meditation for more than 40 years.

Theros: Hera Schulte Westenberg & Theo Pötter

Since 2010, I have continued to gain new insights through life with my husband Theo Pötter, whom I married in 2015. In the same year, we founded Theros together.

Theo has worked as an artist throughout his life. For many years, he has been interested in spiritual science and the philosophy of what it means to be human – and therefore also in the therapeutic concepts connected with my own field of work. His critical perspective on therapeutic aids and their actual functionality, together with his ability to identify weaknesses that often arise from economic compromises in manufacturing, formed the foundation of our joint product development.

Theo’s analytical skills, his creativity in developing improvements and his determination to bring ideas consistently to completion have shaped the independence, clear aesthetics and exceptional effectiveness of our products.

This effectiveness is based on the understanding that therapeutic applications relating to the centre of the body and pleasurable experiences are not opposites. On the contrary, wellbeing and pleasure are prerequisites for physical and emotional health.

The overwhelmingly positive feedback we receive confirms that this approach is the right one.

We hope that our Theros products and our philosophy will continue to improve the quality of life of many people.
