Here we describe how to use FMS dilators for haemorrhoids.
General information on haemorrhoids can be found in our guides
Information on the special mode of action of FMS dilators is available under Special features of FMS dilators and in the instructions for use.
The primary purpose of using glass dilators for haemorrhoids is repositioning. Repositioning means pushing the haemorrhoid back to its place in the haemorrhoidal ring from which it has prolapsed. Temperature conditioning the dilator is very helpful here – a clear advantage of FMS dilators. With inflamed haemorrhoids, cooling is the optimal measure to reduce swelling. They shrink and can be repositioned more easily. Cooling can also relieve pain.
The optimal dilator size for repositioning depends on many factors:
Therefore it is highly advisable to have several sizes available – i.e. a dilator set – so you can choose according to your condition on the day.
The treatment is performed in a relaxed side-lying position.
You can support repositioning sustainably in everyday life by wearing a Viball, our medical Kegel ball. The implant-steel sphere helps prevent the haemorrhoid from prolapsing again after repositioning.
The special material of an FMS dilator provides a pleasant cooling effect even at normal temperature. Additional cooling can be achieved with a cold-water bath, in which the dilator can be cooled down again after warming during use in the body. For true cryotherapy, FMS dilators are filled with kitchen paper and soaked in a water bath. The cellulose reliably retains the water inside the dilator. The prepared dilator is then placed in the refrigerator for several hours until fully chilled.
After symptoms have subsided, regular massage with FMS dilators is an ideal aftercare measure: it strengthens the tissue and thus effectively counteracts the re-formation of haemorrhoids. The massage effect is created by the to-and-fro movement of the dilator with its elliptical head – a feature unique to FMS dilators. Borosilicate glass, with the smoothest surface of all, reliably prevents irritation of the rectal mucosa or the anal sphincter.
During aftercare by massage, the prostate is simultaneously stimulated in men; this has positive effects in prostatitis and on potency and erectile function. We describe a targeted prostate massage under the menu item “Application for prostate massage”.
Another plus of FMS dilators is the possibility to train the alternation of relaxation and contraction in sync with the movement of the dilator:
When inserting, consciously relax the sphincter (motto: “allow, don’t resist”); then train the counter-movement: when gently withdrawing, resist – i.e. try to hold the dilator with your pelvic-floor muscles and sphincter. Repeat several times and consider both phases of the exercise – contraction and relaxation – as equally important. In this way you can significantly strengthen your entire pelvic floor and the sphincter muscles of bladder and anus.
The optimal usability and special effectiveness of FMS dilators result from being able to adjust the size precisely to your needs. People differ greatly in rectal capacity: sex, age, severity of the condition and prior experience with rectal insertion and/or anal erotic play lead to significant differences. There is therefore no universal size for everyone. The menu item “How to find the right size” gives you tips on determining your personal dilator set.
